Associate Business Analyst

The Associate Business Analyst provides support to management or project teams by researching problems, interviewing/observing users, gathering data, and creating reports. Working under the direct supervision of other Business Analysts or business team managers, the Associate Analyst researches specific problems using a variety of analytical techniques. The Associate Analyst uses database tools to produce metrics, charts and reports; uses analytical techniques to document and optimize business processes; and uses agile software development processes to help teams build the appropriate software solution.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts initial investigation into specific business problem areas or enhancement ideas gathering use cases and other data to be used in project planning.
  • Works with operational teams to document and optimize existing business process workflows.
  • Uses database tools to create robust and re-usable reports and metrics that highlight the operational efficiency and bottlenecks in existing business processes.
  • Participates in creation and delivery of application training.
  • Conducts regular reviews and analysis of current business processes by using operational metrics and reports, or observation and user interviews.
  • Acts as QA Engineer as needed to test the functional and non-functional performance for applications under development.
  • With the Business Analyst and Development Manager, helps to provide clarity to project teams on project scope and application functionality.

Job Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Technology/Mathematics and Business.
  • Experience using relational database tools (eg. SQL Server, MySQL, etc) and reporting tools (eg. Excel, SSRS, Tableau, etc).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Able to communicate professionally and clearly with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to use data to drive decisions.
  • Builds positive relationships with the business users and understands their current processes.
  • Ability to identify and document system requirements and issues.
  • Adept at explaining technical and business concepts to users of various experience levels.
  • Well organized with strong time-management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of web applications, desktop applications and databases.
